Kim Hyun Joong held his first fan meeting following his discharge from the military and past controversies on April 29, '2017 Kim Hyun Joong Fan Meeting Anemone'.

It was the first time Kim Hyun Joong had met with fans in 4 years, and he's said to have worried them with his gaunt appearance. The singer-actor held the event despite the controversies with his ex-girlfriend involving a miscarriage and physical abuse, which were found to be false, and his recent DUI incident.

Kim Hyun Joong expressed, "I've unreasonably held a fan meeting. I felt that if I didn't take this chance, it would be a long time until I see you. Though I'm very apologetic, it turns out I'm holding this event." He continued, "Four years can be seen as a short yet long time. I plan to go on a Japan tour in June."
